General Summary

Mosaic Pathways is a collaborative authentic homeschool community honoring the needs of each individual through a self-directed supportive education model. Our approach is one that recognizes the whole child, focusing on social and emotional learning as the necessary foundation for education. We are committed to teaching spirited, independently-minded, and diverse students through open hearts, compassion, respect, humor, and patience.

Mosiac Pathways seeks dedicated individuals to assist alongside classroom teachers supporting diverse learners in grades K-8. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding and love for children, with an ability to ensure a safe, supportive learning environment that reflects the mission and values of Mosaic Pathways. Support staff must possess an enthusiastic commitment to the importance of building, connecting, and sustaining a safe, trusting, and co-regulating environment for neurodiverse individuals.

Essential Duties

  • Works in collaboration with teachers;

  • Works in small groups or one-on-one to support students;

  • Assumes some responsibility for preparing materials for activities;

  • Collaborates in arranging space and ensure a clean and orderly environment, notifying teachers when new materials or repairs are needed;

  • Observes student activities and engagement level; documents and shares information regarding student experience with the faculty and staff;

  • Promotes community and fosters social responsibility through multicultural and anti-bias programming and environments;

  • Develops and maintains a supportive rapport with parents/guardians, facilitates parent/guardian participation in the classrooms;

  • Participates in non-classroom activities including parent/student meetings, staff meetings, and trainings;

  • Provides effective supervision of students to promote a safe and healthy environment and school experience; 

  • Supervises students within and outside of the classroom - including recess, breaks, bathroom;

  • Responds to student concerns and issues, collaborates with teachers and Director;

  • Maintains a professional working atmosphere and confidentiality of information in relation to staff, children, families, and co-workers;

  • Exhibits a growth mindset for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • At least one year experience with children at the elementary/middle level; experience in independent schools and/or alternative learning environments a plus, but not necessary;

  • Willing to work with and be mentored by trained staff;

  • Well organized;

  • Committed to a mindful, compassionate, non-judgmental approach to nurturing students’ social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth;

  • An advocate for students’ need to play and explore.

  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and flexibility;

  • Ability to model honesty, understanding, respect, openness, and kindness;

  • Ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure;

  • Displays curiosity, a positive attitude, and a good sense of humor;

  • Demonstrate professionalism, engagement, and kindness to all children and families regardless of race, color, religion, national and ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity or expression.

Education and Training

  • High School graduate or degree in a relevant field (ex: Education, Environmental Science, Math, English, History, STEM, etc.) or equivalent experience;

  • Technologically competent, including working knowledge of personal computers, google docs and tablet-based communication apps;

Special Requirements:

Must be able to complete a background check.
