Inclusive Education Through Natural Learning

Mosaic Pathways is an inclusive community for diverse learners to engage in natural and experiential learning. We embrace whole person development by fostering their unique expressive, social, emotional, physical, cognitive, spiritual, and creative abilities. Healthy human development is one of the most important aspects of education. Our approach to education builds from a foundation of trust and respect. Close working relationships are built through collaboration and group work.

Education is personal. We recognize each child is on a unique path to growth. Our guidance and support is customized to individual needs with minimal interference. The direction of learning starts from within, and then leads outward. As younger students grow and mature, learning plans are created, independent skills increase, and areas of passion and interests emerge. Instead of tests, students demonstrate their learning by expressing themselves through an infinite variety of methods, whether they use clay, dance, video, presentation, and others.


Inclusion makes the world more vibrant. We all have things to learn and we all have something to teach. Mosaic Pathways believes in the importance of belonging and work to cultivate an environment where all minds and souls are not just included, but 

feel seen and valued for who they are.


Research shows that time spent outdoors can improve attention, decrease stress, increase happiness, and strengthen connections in the brain. Even without the many studies on the benefits of nature, we can all speak to the power in a breath of fresh air, the sun on our face, and the wonders of a hike. Nature presents opportunities to experience the natural world through all the senses. It aids in sensory and emotional regulation, wellness, curiosity and wonder, nurturing ourselves, each other, our planet, and so much more.

Learning through the sense of 

wonder ignites imagination.

Imagination is ~ the thinking of the heart.

What matters isn't found on a page, but found on the white spaces between the words. Aspects that remain unseen hold more value than what is seen.

Deep learning occurs when touched by emotion as the mind and heart connect.

We put the heARTS back into education to express unique individuality.

Essential tools and materials are available for creative expression used in any activity. Displaying visual art allows access to be enjoyed through the heart. Our eyes open as we become the thing we gaze upon. Images are long lasting, so we choose images to impress on the heartClassical music is played to equalize and restore our mental, emotional, and physical selves. Harmony and melody holds vibrational benefits which effect our moods.


Learning and understanding is layered in utilizing classic literature and "Living books" written with purposeful worthy thoughts and inspiring tales of life, filled with gems of wisdom.

Each month we visit new topics for discovery and exploration using poetry, fairy tales, short stories, songs, art, history, biographies, nature, science, and architecture. 

During nature study, students can illustrate and/or write in personal journals about

meaningful observations.
